We won’t get to Chapters 10 and 11 this semester.  If you are interested, you can find my presentations on these Chapters at last year’s website.  I will schedule an optional session for some time in January 2019 to go over the Chapter 11 presentation, since concepts and computing for regression may be valuable to you in future courses, internships, and employment.

We won’t have a Team Project 6 this semester; for purposes of grade calculation, I will treat it as though everyone scored 100 on Team Project 6.

Last year’s final examination is here (PDF), and some comments follow.

Multiple choice:  We did not address all the content of question 11 this year.  Questions 18 through 30 relate to Chapters 10 and 11, for which you are not responsible.

Inference concerning a population average:  You will have a question structured like this (but possibly with a different public health “story”) on your final examination.  This question will target competency 26.

Contingency table:  You will have a question structured like this (but possibly with a different public health “story”) on your final examination; any one of the three measures of effect (risk difference, relative risk, odds ratio) is “fair game”.  This question will target competency 25.

Linear regression:  This relates to Chapter 11, for which you are not responsible.

Additional materials to review include the final examination from Fall 2016 and the midterm examination from Fall 2017, both of which are posted on last year’s webpage.

Regarding the former:  Pay particular attention to the problem on “Comparing group means”, since I intend to give you a similar question (but possibly with a different public health “story”) on your final examination.  This question will target competency 3.

Regarding the latter:  Pay particular attention to the problem on “Descriptive statistics”.  You will have a data set of  8  or  12  observations, which I will put in ascending order for your convenience.  You will then be asked to retrieve the mean, median, interquartile range, variance, and standard deviation.

Also look at the multiple choice questions  1, 21, 26, 27, and 29 through 34.
